At the Credo Foundation for Justice, we are deeply committed to providing a secure and supportive environment for vulnerable youth in Trinidad and Tobago, and our Credo Centre (also known as Credo Boys Home) at 24 Nelson Street in Port of Spain is a central part of this commitment.
Having reopened its doors in 2015 after a devastating fire in 2007, the Centre stands as a testament to resilience and our unwavering dedication to the boys we serve. We offer a safe haven for socially displaced boys, providing them with shelter, comprehensive developmental programs, and the chance to escape the cycle of homelessness, crime, and violence that often traps them.
Our approach at Credo Centre is holistic, focusing on the academic, technical, and psychological development of each resident. We believe in empowering these young men to become productive citizens and responsible adults. The Centre provides a structured environment where boys can pursue their education, participate in various remedial programs, and gain vocational skills, such as those offered through partnerships with organizations like Servol. Our aim is to equip them with the tools and confidence needed to thrive independently and make positive contributions to society. We are proud to welcome boys from diverse backgrounds, ensuring that our doors are open to any young person we can help, regardless of their circumstances.
The Centre operates under the umbrella of the Credo Foundation for Justice, a non-profit, non-governmental organization founded in 1996 and closely affiliated with the Holy Faith Sisters. Our mission is to identify and address social injustices faced by marginalized individuals, working tirelessly to provide interventions and support where they are most needed. Together with Sophia House, our center for at-risk girls, the Credo Centre exemplifies the Holy Faith Sisters’ enduring legacy of compassionate service and their long-standing presence in Trinidad, extending their ministry beyond education into vital social services that transform lives and build a more just and equitable future for all.
